The piano factory GROTRIAN-STEINWEG is family owned and currently in the sixth generation.
When Friedrich Grotrian returned from Moscow to his home country, he became partner of Theodor Steinweg’s piano factory founded by Theodor’s father in 1835.

In 1865 Theodor Steinweg sold his shares to the Grotrian family who carries the family name Grotrian-Steinweg since 1919.
Wilhelm Grotrian, the son of Friedrich, phrased one of the most important mottos when he told his sons: „Lads, build good piano and the rest will take care of itself.“

Many famous inventions like the star shaped back frame, the homogenous soundboard, the first small upright model 120 and the legendary duo - grand were developed by Grotrian-Steinweg.
Grotrian-Steinweg is something special. Until today all instruments are made by hand in the factory in Braunschweig to guarantee an outstanding character in tone and touch. Because we love music.
