Since 1982 the ABEL HAMMER COMPANY manufactures and distributes hammerheads for grand and upright pianos worldwide. In particular, piano manufacturers and piano technicians appreciate the quality of our products, which are manufactured using the highest quality raw materials. In an effort to make further improvements in the production, the ABEL HAMMER COMPANY was actively involved in the BIOFELT PROJECT from 2003 until 2006, which was sponsored by the European Union. The starting point of this project was to check existing and historical felts to examine the felt qualities using an digital microscope. The goal of attaining a highly elastic and resilient felt became reality with the development of the NATURAL FELT. Using knowledge learned from the BIOFELT PROJECT we were able to improve the felt and our hammer making process. Beside the manufacture of new hammerheads the ABEL HAMMER COMPANY is specialized in repairing hammerheads and action parts. The recovering of hammerheads is an economical alternative to renew hammerheads. To the wishes of the customer, repairs on action parts, complete actions and keyboards are custom made. A further part of the business is to manufacture special action parts like grand hammer shanks and other action parts using high-tech machinery.
